Do you need a visa?

How this tool works

We read the official notice for each pair and record the date. Nothing here is generated; a pair with no written check is not shown.

How we check

Visa required. German citizens need a visa or residence permit to enter, leave or transit Russia.

The German Federal Foreign Office says the visa must generally be applied for before entry, or as an e-visa through the Russian authorities, and border posts do not issue visas. It describes e-visas as usually allowing short stays of up to 30 days, valid only at certain border crossings, and says travel documents should generally be valid for six months beyond the date you leave.
