Do you need a visa?

How this tool works

We read the official notice for each pair and record the date. Nothing here is generated; a pair with no written check is not shown.

How we check

Free ETA required. US passport holders need a Sri Lanka ETA, free since 25 May 2026.

The United States is on the official list of 40 countries whose citizens get the tourist ETA free of charge, but it is still required before arrival. Apply only on the official eta.gov.lk site. The US State Department's page (Last Updated October 16, 2025) matches this and asks for 6 months of passport validity beyond your expected departure date and 1 blank page.
