Kaş is a small harbor town on Türkiye's Turquoise Coast, in Antalya Province. The town draws divers and people taking boat trips along the coast. Kekova is the trip most people take: a stretch of shore where ruins lie partly under the water. Swimming is mostly from rock platforms and pebble beaches rather than long sand. The Greek island of Meis is in sight from the harbor.
The old town sits above the harbor, with bougainvillea-lined lanes and Lycian rock tombs cut into the hillside nearby. Lycian cities such as Myra are day trips from here. Choose a base in town, near the harbor and restaurants, or in a quieter bay outside it. A few days covers the boats, the diving and the old town. Late spring and early autumn suit swimming and boat trips best. Midsummer is hot and busy.
Kaş in five
- Get your exit stamp for the Meis crossingKastellorizo (Meis) is Greek, so the crossing is an international border. Canada's travel advice tells visitors to get an exit stamp when leaving Türkiye, including by sea to nearby islands, to avoid trouble re-entering.
- Book a Kekova boat for the sunken ruinsKekova day trips cover the sunken ruins, Simena castle and swim stops. Compare routes and group size, since some boats skip the ruins or the castle climb.
- Add Myra and Demre by car or tourThe Ministry lists Myra as open daily 08:00 to 19:00, and the Mediterranean MuseumPass (€90, 7 days) covers Myra, Andriake, Simena and the St Nicholas museum.Mediterranean MuseumPass
- Plan beach days around platforms and PataraKaş has pebble coves and swimming platforms rather than a sand beach. Go west to Kalkan and Patara, or to Kaputaş cove, for a classic beach day.Kalkan
- Rent a car or use dolmuş along the coastThe coast road is the only link between Kaş, Kalkan and Fethiye. A car frees up bays and ruins, but dolmuş and boats cover the main stops without parking worries.Getting around

Is Kaş worth visiting?
Yes, for its old town, diving and boat trips, if you accept pebble coves instead of a sand beach. It suits slow, outdoorsy trips more than a package beach holiday.
How do you get from Kaş to the Greek island of Meis?
A short boat crosses from the harbor, often as a day trip. Take your passport, ask the operator about the day's sailing, and keep a spare day because wind can cancel the crossing.
Does Kaş have a sandy beach?
Not in town, where the swim spots are pebble coves and platforms. Patara and Kaputaş are the usual beach days, reached by car or dolmuş.
How many days do you need in Kaş?
Three days cover the old town, a Kekova boat day and one ruin trip. Add a fourth for diving or the Meis crossing.
When is the best time to visit Kaş?
May, June, September and October. July and August are hot and busy, and many boats and restaurants cut back from about November to March.
