Jebel Akhdar, the Green Mountain, is a range in the Hajar Mountains of Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate in northern Oman. It is about 80 km long and 32 km wide. Its highest peak, Jebel Shams, rises to about 3,018 m (9,902 ft), the highest point in the country. The main plateau, Saiq, sits near 2,000 m above sea level, where conditions are milder than on the desert plains below.

Visitors come for the wadis and terraced orchards. Mountain springs and falaj irrigation channels feed farms where pomegranates, apricots, walnuts, peaches, grapes and roses grow, and rose water extraction is still a traditional craft here. Al Sogara, Saiq and Wadi Bani Habib have old houses and terraces, and Birkat al-Mawz, a mud-brick fortress being restored, is about a 45-minute drive from Nizwa. The range is reached by four-wheel drive only, and winters on the higher slopes can be very cold.
