An Bang Beach is a long, sandy stretch on the coast of Hoi An, in Quang Nam Province in central Vietnam. It lies about 4 km northeast of the old town, the historic trading port known for its lantern-lit streets. Seafood stalls and beach cafés line the sand, and the sea is usually calmest from about February to August, before the autumn rains arrive in central Vietnam.
Most visitors come for a half day, riding out by bicycle or taxi, or stay a few nights by the water. Where to sleep is the main choice. Staying by the sand means quiet mornings and short walks to seafood. Staying in the old town means evening walks among the lanterns, with the beach a short ride away. Two to three days covers both the beach and the old town, and swimming is best planned for the calmer months.

- Cycle out through the paddiesFrom the old town the bicycle ride passes rice fields and buffalo before the coast. Go early in the morning or late afternoon, and bring a hat and water.
- Eat at the seafood stalls with prices agreedFresh seafood stalls line the embankment. Ask for the price per weight and the cooking charge before the order is placed, to avoid a surprise at the end.
- Check the sea in the wet monthsHoi An's rainy weather and storms run from October to January, and the surf can be strong. Swim where lifeguards or other swimmers are, and heed flags and local advice.Best time to visit Vietnam

Is An Bang Beach worth visiting?
Yes, as an easy half day from Hoi An, especially March to May when the sea is calm. It is more relaxed than the old town and has seafood and cafes. It is a beach, not a sight, so skip it if rain is forecast.
How far is An Bang from Hoi An?
About 10 minutes by car or taxi, and a pleasant bicycle ride on flat roads through rice fields. Many hotels lend bicycles to guests, so you do not need transport arranged in advance.
Should you stay at An Bang or in Hoi An old town?
Stay by the sand for beach days and quiet mornings, and in the old town for lanterns and early walks. Many trips split the nights. The old town is a short ride away, so either choice works.
Can you swim at An Bang Beach?
Yes, in calm months. Autumn storms and winter swells can bring rough surf, so check conditions, swim near other people and avoid the water when flags or local staff advise against it.
What is the best time to visit An Bang?
March to May is the usual best window: dry, warm and calm. June to August is hot but fine for early or late beach time, while October to January brings rain and storms.
