Do Canadian passport holders need a visa for Costa Rica?

Covers 11 passports and 80 destinations. Rules older than 30 days are flagged for re-check.

Do you need a visa?

How this tool works

We read the official notice for each pair and record the date. Nothing here is generated; a pair with no written check is not shown.

How we check

No visa. Canadian passport holders visit Costa Rica visa-free for up to 180 days.

Travel.gc.ca says a tourist visa is not required for stays up to 180 days, and the immigration officer decides the permitted length when you enter. You must get an entry stamp, and customs officials will ask to see a return or onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds. Canada warns you may face deportation if you overstay.
