Sóller is a town and valley in the northwest of Mallorca, one of the Balearic Islands of Spain. Orange groves cover the valley, and the town is surrounded by the Serra de Tramuntana, a mountain range that UNESCO has listed as a cultural landscape. The valley suits a slow pace, scenery and walking more than a beach stay.

The historic wooden train runs from Palma through the mountains to Sóller, and a tram continues from the town down to Port de Sóller, which has a bay, a beach and a harbour. The train climbs through the hills, so the views change as you go. A day is enough to ride the train and tram, but two nights leave time for a mountain walk. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons for walking, because summer is very hot.
