Ronda is a hill town in Andalusia, southern Spain, built on both sides of a deep gorge cut by the Guadalevín river. The Puente Nuevo, a stone bridge completed in the late 1700s, crosses the gap. The views from its sides and from nearby viewpoints are a main reason to visit. The old quarter, La Ciudad, sits along the edge of the drop, and the town also has one of Spain's oldest bullrings.

Ronda suits travelers who want to walk slowly through a small town. Day trips from Málaga and Seville are common, but one night lets you walk the gorge edges in the early morning or evening. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons, since summer heat in the hills can be strong. Plan at least one full day, and two nights if you want to add the white villages nearby.

  3. Visit the bullring and the old quarter in one loopThe bullring is among the oldest in Spain and has a museum. Check opening hours and ticket details on the official site, then walk the old quarter on foot.

Ronda FAQ

Is Ronda worth visiting?

Yes. The Puente Nuevo and the gorge are among the strongest sights in Andalusia. It is best on an overnight stay, when the center empties after the tour buses leave.

Can you do Ronda as a day trip from Málaga?

Yes, in about 1.5–2 hours each way by car or train, and tours run daily. It feels rushed. One night gives you better light and calmer streets.

How long do you need in Ronda?

A full afternoon and morning covers the bridge, gorge paths, bullring and old quarter. A single day trip is possible but tight. Two nights suits a hiking or car-based plan.

Is there a train to Ronda?

Yes, from Málaga and Seville, but you usually change trains and journeys are slow. Compare them with buses and a hire car before you decide.

What is the best time to visit Ronda?

April, May, September and October are mild and good for walking. July and August are very hot, with the heaviest day-trip crowds. Winter is cool and quiet.
