Aínsa is a medieval village in Huesca province, in the Sobrarbe region of Aragon, in the Spanish Pyrenees. The old town is built around a square lined with arcades, with stone houses along the lanes and a castle above. Most visitors see the village in an afternoon, but the square and narrow lanes reward a slower walk. It also works as a stop on a drive north toward the mountains if you only have a day.
Aínsa is a practical base for Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park, a drive away from the village. Two nights allows a full day in the park and a relaxed morning in town. Boltaña, a larger village down the valley, and Torla, the gateway to the park, are other places to stay. The area suits hikers, drivers touring the Pyrenees, and anyone who wants a stone village without big crowds.

Is Aínsa worth visiting?
Yes, for a well-kept medieval village and a convenient base for Ordesa. It is small, so one night is plenty unless you plan hiking days in the valleys.
How far is Aínsa from Ordesa?
About an hour by car to Torla, the gateway village. In busy periods access to the valley floor may be restricted, so check the official page and plan on the shuttle.
How do you get to Aínsa without a car?
With effort. Bus links from Huesca and Barbastro are limited, so check timetables first. Most visitors drive, or join a tour from a larger town.
When is the best time to visit Aínsa?
June to September for hiking and open mountain roads; May and October for quiet and autumn color. Winter is cold, with snow at higher elevations.
How many days do you need in Aínsa?
One night covers the village and a sunset on the plaza. Three days let you add Ordesa, Bielsa and a canyon day in the Guara sierra.
