Siargao is a teardrop-shaped island in the Philippine Sea, about 196 kilometers southeast of Tacloban. It lies in Surigao del Norte province, off mainland Mindanao, and covers roughly 437 square kilometers across eight municipalities. Ferries from Surigao City arrive at Dapa, and most visitors stay in General Luna or the Tuason Point area, near Cloud 9 and other surf breaks. Sayak Airport has direct flights from Manila and Clark.
Siargao is known as the surfing capital of the Philippines. Cloud 9 is its best-known wave, a reef break with hollow tubes that you reach by a long pier, and the Siargao Cup is held there each year. Beyond the surf, boats run to Sugba Lagoon, Naked Island and Daku Island, and through one of the largest mangrove reserves in Mindanao. The best surf runs from August to December, during the southwest monsoon. Plan at least a few days for surfing and one boat trip.

Is Siargao good for beginner surfers?
Yes, with lessons at the softer breaks. Cloud 9 itself is a fast reef break for experienced surfers.
When is the best surf season in Siargao?
Usually September to November, when swells are more consistent.
How many days do I need in Siargao?
Four to six days for surf, island hopping, Sugba Lagoon and the rock pools.

Yes. Island hopping, Sugba Lagoon, the Magpupungko tide pools and scooter rides through coconut groves fill four days without a board.
Do I need a license to rent a scooter in Siargao?
