Puerto Ángel is a fishing village on the Pacific coast of Oaxaca State, in southern Mexico. Its small harbor still works as a fishing port, and nearby coves are often calm enough for swimming. The beaches are mostly small coves. The village sits between the beach towns of Zipolite and Mazunte, which share the same stretch of coast.
It suits travelers who want slow days by the sea, with few large resorts and a modest choice of guesthouses. Many travelers fly into Huatulco airport and continue by road. Expect simple lodging and a slow pace, with little to fill a packed schedule. The dry season, roughly November to April, is the most comfortable time to visit. Two to four nights is enough to see the village and nearby beaches at an unhurried pace.
