Do you need a visa?

How this tool works

We read the official notice for each pair and record the date. Nothing here is generated; a pair with no written check is not shown.

How we check

No visa. US passport holders enter Japan visa-free for up to 90 days.

Tourism and business visits. You are fingerprinted and photographed at the border and cannot work. Visit Japan Web is optional and speeds up immigration and customs. The departure tax rose to ¥3,000 on 1 July 2026 and is added to your ticket. The US State Department's page (Last Updated August 11, 2025) is consistent with the above. It also asks for 1 blank page per entry stamp.
