Do Portuguese passport holders need a visa for Italy?

Covers 11 passports and 80 destinations. Rules older than 30 days are flagged for re-check.

How this tool works

We read the official notice for each pair and record the date. Nothing here is generated; a pair with no written check is not shown.

No visa. Portuguese passport holders travel to Italy without a passport requirement stated for EU travel.

The page says Portuguese nationals do not need a passport to travel within the European Union. It also states that, from August 3, 2026, an identity card is no longer valid as a travel document in the Schengen area and the EU.
