Do Spanish passport holders need a visa for Sweden?

Covers 11 passports and 80 destinations. Rules older than 30 days are flagged for re-check.

Do you need a visa?

How this tool works

We read the official notice for each pair and record the date. Nothing here is generated; a pair with no written check is not shown.

How we check

No visa. Spanish citizens can enter Sweden with a DNI or a passport.

Sweden is an EU and Schengen member, so Spanish citizens need no visa and are not registered in the EES. The Spanish foreign ministry says Spanish citizens can enter with a DNI or a passport, as long as it is valid, and recommends carrying one on land and ferry trips from Denmark and Norway because of border checks. Sweden has notified temporary controls at all its internal borders from 12 May to 11 November 2026 (European Commission list), so carry your passport on trips in and out.
