Sveti Stefan is a former fishing village on a small islet on Montenegro's Adriatic coast, linked to the mainland by a narrow causeway a short drive south of Budva. Most of the islet is now a luxury hotel, so most visitors see the stone houses from the shore. Entry to the islet is restricted, so check access before you plan the day.

Most people come for the view from the mainland and for a swim on the beaches beside the islet. Queen's Beach at Miločer is one of them. Plan a few hours to a half day. Budva Old Town is the easiest base, with restaurants and bus stops, and a car or taxi is useful for getting between the islet, Miločer and the town.

  2. Choose your side of the beachThe tourism board gives the beach in two parts: a larger one about 700 m long and a smaller one about 400 m long. Look at both before you set up for the day.
  3. Add King's Beach near MiločerThe board lists King's Beach at about 280 m, beside the former royal summer residence at Miločer. Aman notes Villa Miločer across the bay from the islet.
  4. Base in Budva or Petrovac, not on the isletMost visitors stay in Budva or Petrovac and come for a half day. Compare the two bases before you book.Where to stay in Budva
