The fairground
The Feria de Abril is held on the Real de la Feria, between Los Remedios and Tablada, and covers 450,000 square meters with 1,052 casetas. It has three parts: El Real, where the casetas stand; Calle del Infierno, the rides street; and a parking area. The fair is tied to Easter and falls about two weeks after Holy Week. With Easter on 28 March 2027, the Seville tourist board's listing of Tuesday 13 to Sunday 18 April fits. It was founded in 1846.
On the first night the pescaíto, a fried-fish dinner, comes first and the Alumbrao follows at midnight, when the lights of El Real are switched on. The fair closes on Sunday with fireworks over the River Guadalquivir.
Casetas: who can walk in
The casetas are the reason for the fair, and getting in is the main problem. Most are private, run by families, companies or associations whose members pay a yearly fee, and entry is by invitation only. If you have a contact in Seville, ask. If you do not, the public casetas are the way in.
Public casetas are run by city districts and unions, and are open to non-members from 12 noon to 3am. They are only about 30 percent of the total and they fill quickly. Inside, the music is sevillanas and rumbas; later in the night the younger casetas play pop, rock and reggaeton.
The tourist board's caseta
The Seville tourist board runs the Caseta de Sevilla at 225 to 229 Pascual Márquez Street, with an indoor area and a terrace. Terrace tables must be booked in advance. Bookings are taken at the Laredo Building on Plaza San Francisco, the Paseo Colón kiosk, the Marqués del Contadero central office and San Jorge Castle in Triana. The email is [email protected] and the phone is +34 663 141 195. The caseta plays live sevillanas and rumbas at set times.
Tours and information points
If you want the fairground explained, the tourist board runs guided tours from the La Portada main entrance kiosk on Calle Antonio Bienvenida. They leave at 1pm, 2:30pm, 4pm and 5:30pm in Spanish, English, French, Italian and Portuguese, and can be reserved at that kiosk, at the city's tourist offices, by email or on +34 955 471 232. The info points at La Portada and on Calle Costillares are open from 12:30pm to 6:30pm.
On Calle del Infierno the rides run quiet hours on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 4pm to 7pm, when attraction music and sound effects are reduced or turned off.
Dress and horses
Tradition has women in the traje de sevillana and men "de corto", a suit, but neither is required, and many casetas set their own dress code, so ask before you go. A flamenca outfit should look intentional, not like a costume. Sevillanas are the main dance. Choose clothes that are elegant but comfortable, since you will be eating, drinking and dancing.
Horses and carriages belong to the daytime fair. By regulation, horses may enter the grounds only until 8pm. Animal-welfare groups criticize their conditions in hot weather; three horses died in 2023 and one in 2024, and none were reported in 2025.
Getting there
The metro and the buses add service for the fair. In 2026 the Seville metro ran without interruption all week with double trains, the new Tranvibús line TB1 ran straight to the rear entrance of the fair, and TUSSAM ran a Prado to Feria shuttle. The Tranvibús started from the Monday pescaíto at 7pm, then ran every six to eight minutes.
Where to sleep
Los Remedios is the district the fair is held in. Triana is across the river from the center, and the Caseta de Sevilla's San Jorge Castle booking point is there. The center has the tourist board's Laredo Building on Plaza San Francisco and its Paseo Colón kiosk. See the Seville page for the city, and Andalucía in 7 days if you are adding Córdoba and Granada.
