Grand Teton National Park sits in northwestern Wyoming, just south of Yellowstone National Park. Its centerpiece is the Teton Range, a line of peaks that rises sharply above the Jackson Hole valley, with the highest summit, Grand Teton, at about 13,775 feet. At the base of the mountains, Jenny Lake fills a basin carved by glaciers, and the Snake River winds across the valley floor. Mormon Row, a group of historic homesteads with open views of the peaks, lies in the southern part of the valley.
The park suits hikers, scenic drivers, boaters and wildlife watchers. Moose, elk and bison are common in the valley, and trails range from short lakeside walks to steep climbs into the high country. Summer and early fall give the widest access to trails and boat launches, while winter brings snow and far fewer visitors. Two to three days gives time for a lake, a drive and a longer hike, and many visitors pair the park with a trip to Yellowstone.

- Pair it with Yellowstone, but pay twiceThe parks share a border and a highway, but Yellowstone has its own entrance and fees. Plan two or three nights in each rather than a rushed day trip.Yellowstone

How much does Grand Teton cost for international visitors?
$35 per vehicle for 7 days, plus $100 per person aged 16 and over for non-US residents. An annual or America the Beautiful pass waives the nonresident fee, and a $250 non-resident pass can pay off if you add Yellowstone.
How many days do you need in Grand Teton?
Two days covers Jenny Lake, Mormon Row and a Snake River float. Add a third for a longer hike or a day in Jackson. If you add Yellowstone, plan at least four nights in total.
Do I need a reservation for Grand Teton?
The park's fees page lists an entrance fee and no timed-entry system, but campgrounds, lodges and some permits need reservations. Check the park's page for your dates.
Where should I stay for Grand Teton?
Jackson for restaurants and the widest choice, Moose or Colter Bay for being inside the park, and Teton Village for a resort base. Book months ahead for July and August.
Grand Teton or Yellowstone?
Do both if you can. Grand Teton has mountain views and lakes, and Yellowstone has geysers and large wildlife herds. They are neighbors, and each charges its own entrance and nonresident fees.
