Zoo Zürich

Zoo Zürich is a large zoo and aquarium at Zürichbergstrasse 221, in Zürich. Its spacious, naturalistic enclosures and habitat-focused exhibits make it a place to learn about animal behaviour and conservation as you explore. The rainforest hall brings plants and animals together in a tropical setting, and the African section is another highlight. Allow a full day: the grounds are extensive, with sloping paths, food outlets and places to sit along the way.

A full day among habitats

Zoo Zürich is laid out across a large site, so a visit involves plenty of walking. Some paths climb slopes, and shade is limited in parts of the grounds. Seating and water stations are spread around the zoo, and food outlets and toilets are available along the way.

The exhibits focus on habitats and conservation as well as the animals themselves. Spacious enclosures give you room to observe animal behaviour, while the themed areas connect the animals with environments from around the world. Ongoing construction can affect parts of the site, but there is still plenty to explore.

Families can also make use of the playground and petting zoo. There are places to rest and buy food during the day, useful when taking a break from the walking. Tickets are recommended in advance, particularly during busy seasons or events.
