Bequia is the second-largest island in the Grenadines, part of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, about 15 km from Kingstown. Port Elizabeth, on the west coast, is the main town and ferry port. Its natural harbour, Admiralty Bay, has long served as a sheltered anchorage. Princess Margaret Beach is next to town, inside the bay. Other places to visit include Spring, a former coconut plantation with farm animals, and Industry Bay and Park Bay.
Bequia suits a trip built around sailing, beaches and diving. Two operators run scuba trips to 28 identified sites, including wrecks and shallow caves for advanced divers. Divers often see hawksbill turtles, lobsters and moray eels. The island has a small whaling museum, and its limited local whale hunt remains internationally contested. One of Bequia’s busiest periods is the annual Easter Regatta and Music Fest. The New Year’s Day Lilo Regatta has been held since 2010; participants cross the bays on unmotorised floating devices. Port Elizabeth is also a departure point for boat trips to other Grenadines.
