Yeosu is a port city on the southern coast of South Korea, in South Jeolla Province (Jeollanam-do). It faces the South Sea, and its shoreline breaks into small islands. Some are linked to the mainland by bridges, and ferries reach others. The city hosted the 2012 World Expo, and the waterfront built for it is a main draw for walks along the harbor.
A trip here suits people who like coastal walks, short boat rides and long seafood meals. Odongdo, an island joined to the mainland by a causeway, is known for its camellia trees, which bloom in late winter and early spring. The harbor and its bridges make a pleasant walk after dinner. Spring and autumn are the easiest seasons for outdoor days. Two to three days is enough to cover the city and a few islands at an unhurried pace. Suncheon Bay and Gwangyang are also within a day's reach by car.
