Wadi Namar Waterfall
Park

Wadi Namar Waterfall

Wadi Namar Waterfall in Riyadh, with a lake, a waterfall and sunset views, open 24 hours. See when to go and how to plan a picnic or walk.

Wadi Namar is a park in the Namar district of Riyadh, built around a man-made lake, a waterfall and a backdrop of mountains. The Royal Commission for Riyadh City worked to develop the valley, with trees and water for the waterfall. Families come for picnics and barbecues, cyclists for the lakeside paths, and walkers for the corniche and dirt tracks by the water. In summer, many visitors arrive near sunset, when the temperature is milder and the water is at its most photogenic.

How the valley was developed

Wadi Namar Waterfall

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City worked to develop the valley into one of the best-known landmarks in the city. Trees were planted, and water was provided for the waterfall, with tourist services added around it.

The main feature of the park is the Namar Dam Lake, which is about 2 km long and 20 metres deep. The waterfall and lake sit against the mountains, and more than 9,500 trees now grow in the valley.

A corniche runs along the lake, and dirt walkways lead down to the water. Designated seating areas line the edge, so you can sit by the lake without bringing your own chairs.

The park has cycling lanes and a skateboarding area. The hiking routes include kid-friendly trails, and there is a playground with slides for younger visitors.

Facilities for a day out

The park has picnic tables, a barbecue grill and a public restroom. Basketball, volleyball and tennis courts are on site, and the park is a popular place for children's birthday celebrations.

Free and paid parking lots are available, along with free and paid street parking. The entrance and the parking lot are wheelchair accessible. The park is especially busy during holidays, so plan your arrival time.
