Saba is a volcanic island in the northern Lesser Antilles and a special municipality of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, part of the Caribbean Netherlands. Its interior rises steeply to Mount Scenery, a rainforest summit at 887 meters and the highest point in the Kingdom. The island has one winding road, and its villages sit on the slopes and along the coast.
Most visitors come to hike and dive. Trails climb Mount Scenery through rainforest, and the protected marine park offers diving along the coast. Most trips start with a short flight or ferry from Sint Maarten. The island suits hikers, divers and travelers who want a few quiet days on a small island. Plan at least three to four days. The drier months run roughly December through May, outside the June to November hurricane season.
