Street Art Museum

Explore St Petersburg’s Street Art Museum in a working factory, with murals, installations and changing exhibitions by Russian and international artists.

The Street Art Museum occupies part of a working laminated-plastics factory in eastern St Petersburg, giving its art an industrial setting far from the city’s traditional galleries. The collection ranges from large murals to sculpture, graphics, video art and mixed-media installations, including works in a former boilerhouse. Founded in 2012 to document street art, the museum also presents changing exhibitions, with artists from Russia and abroad contributing to themes such as migration and peace.

The museum is based at a laminated-plastics factory in eastern St Petersburg. Its setting is part of the visit: artworks occupy an industrial site rather than a conventional gallery, bringing street art into close contact with the buildings and activity around it.

Established in 2012, the project set out to document street art, an art form that can be temporary by nature. The collection includes graffiti, sculpture, graphics and video art, as well as mixed-media installations. Large murals cover factory walls, while works in a former boilerhouse show how the art moves into indoor spaces.

Changing exhibitions and themes

Alongside its permanent collection, the museum stages changing exhibitions, inviting artists from Russia and other countries to contribute. Past themes have included revolution, migration and peace. The exhibitions place contemporary street art in conversation with the factory setting and the city’s more traditional museum scene.
