Baguio is a city in Benguet province, in the Cordillera mountains of northern Luzon in the Philippines. It sits at about 1,500 meters (roughly 5,000 feet) above sea level, which keeps its temperatures far cooler than the lowlands and the capital, Manila. American colonial administrators developed it as a hill station in the early 1900s, and its parks and hillside streets still show that planning.

Visitors come for the climate, the pine forests and the mountain views, along with Burnham Park and its lake, the public market and the strawberry and vegetable farms in the surrounding hills. Baguio suits a relaxed trip of two to four days, or a longer stay if you want to visit the farms and nearby towns. The dry season, roughly December to April, is the easiest time to visit, and the coolest nights come from December through February. Expect more rain from June to October.

How many days do you need in Baguio?

Two nights cover Burnham Park, Session Road and a viewpoint such as Mines View Park. Add a day if you want Camp John Hay or a day trip to La Trinidad.

When is the best time to visit Baguio?

December to February for cool, dry weather, with February busy because of Panagbenga. June to October is the rainy season, with heavy rain and possible road disruption.

Is Baguio worth visiting?

Yes if you want cool air, pine forest and hill views after time in the lowlands. It works best as a two or three day stop rather than a long stay.

How do you get from Manila to Baguio?

Take a bus from Manila; the trip is long and the road climbs steeply, so traffic on the approach can add hours. Book a seat for daytime travel if you can.

Do you need a car in Baguio?

Usually not. Taxis and jeepneys cover the city, but day trips to nearby towns are easier with a driver or a tour.
