The gallery occupies a former mining-company headquarters at 62 Rue Yougoslavie in Gueliz. The building dates to 1932, when Art Deco design was in fashion. Its exterior has clean lines, while inside, marble walls, period light fittings and a broad modernist staircase give the visit an architectural dimension alongside the art.

The building’s earlier use and its present role as a gallery bring together two parts of Marrakech’s history. Comptoir des Mines opened as an art space in 2016, under the direction of gallerist Hicham Daoudi.
