Spiaggia di Porto Pino, in southern Sardinia, is known for pale sand, shallow blue water and striking white dunes. Come for a swim, then follow the shoreline toward Le Dune, the quieter stretch where the dunes rise above the beach. You can rent deck chairs and umbrellas near the beach bar, or walk farther from the beach clubs for more space. Wind can make the water choppy and affect beach umbrellas, and seaweed sometimes collects along parts of the shore.
The dunes and shoreline

The white dunes are the defining sight at Porto Pino. At Le Dune, they rise to nearly 25 metres, with a wide stretch of sand between the dunes and the sea. The dunes continue toward pine woodland and nearby salt ponds, giving this part of the coast a different feel from the beach-club area.
Do not walk on the dunes. You can enjoy their shape and scale from the beach while following the shoreline. The beach is long enough for a substantial walk, and heading away from the beach clubs can bring you to a quieter section.
Water, wind and wildlife

The seabed is shallow, which makes the water suitable for children to paddle and swim. The coast is also accessible to people with disabilities. Seaweed can collect on the sand or in the water in some spots, so conditions may differ along the shore.
Wind is part of the setting here. It can make conditions suitable for windsurfing, but it can also make a beach umbrella difficult to manage. The nearby salt ponds, Stagno del Corvo and Stagno de Foxi, are summer habitat for herons and flamingos.
Getting to the beach
From the entrance gate, the road to the parking area runs for about 6 km over dirt. It is described as manageable in a city car. From the parking area, allow around 10 minutes on foot to reach the beach.
Parking fees vary by time of day. Ask at the first parking entrance whether your ticket can be marked for use at other beaches in the area. If you are staying in the Teulada municipality, ask your host whether they can provide a ticket for the reduced parking fee available at several local beaches.
