Grand Anse is a long crescent beach on the southwest coast of Grenada, an island nation in the eastern Caribbean. It sits a short drive from St. George's, and it is one of the island's best-known beaches, with hotels, restaurants, bars and water sports along the shore. Most visitors come to swim and to book water sports on the sand.

Grenada is known for spice, especially nutmeg. Visitors often pair a beach stay with a day trip inland to the rainforest at Grand Etang, or with a visit to St. George's and its harbor and old forts. The dry season, roughly December to May, is the most popular time to visit. Hurricane season runs June through November. Two or three days is enough for the beach, a visit to St. George's and one boat trip or snorkel tour. The beach road has the most restaurants and bars, while the ends of the bay are quieter.

    Grand Anse FAQ

Is Grand Anse Beach worth visiting?

Yes, for a long curved beach with restaurants and beach bars within walking distance. It is busier than the quieter ends of the bay, so choose a guesthouse at one end of the bay if you want less noise.

How do you get from St. George's to Grand Anse?

By taxi or a local minibus. Agree the taxi fare before you get in, because the cars usually have no meters.

    Is Grand Anse safe?

Keep valuables out of sight on the beach, and use a taxi rather than walking back after dark.

How many days do you need in Grand Anse?

Two or three days covers the beach, a visit to St. George's and one boat trip or snorkel tour. A longer stay allows a day trip to the rainforest or to Carriacou.

When is the best time to visit Grand Anse?

December to May is the dry season and the best time for beach days. June to November is hurricane season, so book flexible rooms and travel insurance if you go then.

Do you need a car at Grand Anse?

Not for the beach itself. A car helps for day trips around the island, but taxis are simpler for short trips from the beach.
