Agios Georgios Beach

Agios Georgios is the sandy town beach on the southern edge of Naxos Chora, Greece. Its gently shelving water gives children plenty of room to paddle, while the long shore has space for towels as well as areas with rented loungers and umbrellas. You can walk here from town and find cafes, bars and tavernas nearby. At the far end of the bay, windsurfing adds another reason to linger; toward evening, the beach is a good spot to watch the sunset.

A town beach with shallow water

Agios Georgios lies just south of Naxos Chora, close enough to reach on foot from the town and port. Its sandy shoreline runs along a shallow bay, where the water stays low for a long way from shore. That gentle entry is useful for families with young children and for anyone who would rather paddle than swim in deep water.

The beach is long, with room to spread out a towel. Some stretches have loungers and umbrellas for rent; other spots are available for people bringing their own beach gear. Facilities for people with disabilities are also noted at the beach.

Windsurfing and the view at dusk

Windsurfing is part of the scene at Agios Georgios. The far end of the bay is a hub for the sport, with rental shops nearby, and you can watch from the sand if you prefer to stay out of the water. The bay can be windy, and conditions are not always the same from day to day.

The beach’s position beside Chora makes it easy to combine time by the sea with a meal or a walk into town. Cafes, bars and tavernas line the nearby area. Toward evening, the shore is a convenient place to watch the sun set over the water.
