Do US passport holders need a visa for Latvia?
Covers 11 passports and 80 destinations. Rules older than 30 days are flagged for re-check.
How this tool works
We read the official notice for each pair and record the date. Nothing here is generated; a pair with no written check is not shown.
How we checkNo visa. US passport holders visit Latvia visa-free for 90 days or less.
The US State Department's page says no visa is required for 90 days or less. Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your stay if you plan to transit a Schengen country, plus one blank page per stamp. Latvia does not accept the 12-page US emergency passport for visa-free entry. Latvia is in the Schengen area, so the 90 days are shared with every other Schengen country, and at your first crossing you register in the EES with a face scan and fingerprints instead of a passport stamp. Latvia's Electronic Travel Declaration is not required of US citizens, because the official site lists them as exempt. Latvia has no temporary internal border controls on the European Commission list, but Poland checks its land border with Lithuania until 30 March 2027, so carry your passport toward Poland.
