Siquijor is a small island province in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines, lying just off the coast of Negros Oriental. Most travelers reach it by ferry from Dumaguete or from Cebu, so the crossing is part of the trip. The island is known for waterfalls, quiet beaches, and diving and snorkeling, and for its folk healers.
Most of the island is rural, so a motorbike or hired car is the usual way to cover distances between the waterfalls and beaches. Plan at least a few days to see the main sights, with a dive or snorkel trip if the weather allows. The driest months are December to March. The rainy season runs from June to October, so check the forecast before you book. Siquijor suits slow trips and couples, and anyone who wants a quiet base without a busy resort town.

Read the guideSiquijor FAQ
Is Siquijor worth visiting?
Yes, if you want slow days, beaches and waterfalls and no nightlife. It is small enough to see by motorbike over a few days, but you will not find a big city.
How many days do you need on Siquijor?
Three to four nights covers the main beaches, the waterfalls and the town at a relaxed pace. One night is enough for a quick look, but you will spend much of it in transit.
Is Siquijor a day trip from Dumaguete?
It is possible, since the ferry takes about an hour each way, but the day goes quickly. A night on the island gives you time on the coast in the evening and early morning.
When is the best time to visit Siquijor?
December to March is the driest stretch and the easiest time to travel. The rainy season runs from June to October, with typhoon risk in August and October, so check the forecast before you book.
Is Siquijor safe for tourists?
The main risks are motorbike accidents and petty theft. Wear a helmet, keep valuables locked in your room and avoid riding on unlit roads at night.
