Pembrokeshire Coast National Park covers most of the coast of Pembrokeshire, in south-west Wales. Established in 1952, it is the only national park in the United Kingdom made up largely of coastal landscapes. Its coastline stretches about 260 miles, from rugged cliffs and sandy beaches to wooded estuaries, inland hills and moorland. The park has four sections: the south coast around Caldey Island, the Daugleddau estuary, the St Bride’s Bay coast and its islands, and the Preseli Hills.
The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is a 186-mile National Trail from Amroth in the south to St Dogmaels in the north. The route has about 35,000 feet of total ascent and descent, so plan your walk around the effort you want to take on. Tenby and Saundersfoot are resorts on the south coast. Skomer and Ramsey are among the offshore islands, important for seabirds. In spring, razorbills and guillemots nest at Elegug Stacks. Check access before visiting military-use areas such as Castlemartin Training Area. The park suits trips focused on walking, beaches or a mix of both, with four distinct areas to explore.

When can you see puffins on Skomer?
From about April to July, when they come ashore to nest. By early August most have left for the open sea.
Is there an entry fee for Pembrokeshire Coast National Park?
No. Entry is free. You pay for parking at many beaches, boat trips and some sites such as Carew Castle.
How long is the Pembrokeshire Coast Path?
186 miles, from Amroth in the south to St Dogmaels in the north. Walking it all takes most people 10–15 days.
Where should I stay in Pembrokeshire?
St Davids for the wild north-west and Skomer boats, Tenby for beaches and trains, Newport for the quieter north coast.
How many days do you need in Pembrokeshire?
Three days covers a section of the coast path, a beach or two and a boat trip. A week lets you link Tenby in the south with St Davids and the north coast; public transport is thin, so a car or the coastal buses decide how far you get.
