Naveta d'Es Tudons is a prehistoric funerary monument near Ciutadella. Its name refers to its vessel-like form: the long stone structure resembles a boat turned upside down. Navetas are characteristic of Menorca, and this is one of the island’s best-preserved examples.

The monument dates back more than 3,000 years and was used as a collective burial chamber. Its stones were stacked without mortar. Excavations in the 1950s uncovered human remains and objects including ceramics, bracelets and necklaces. Some finds from the site are held at the Museu de Menorca in Mahón.

From the entrance, a short, easy path crosses to the walled area around the monument. Information boards explain the site and its history along the way. The structure itself is open to view from outside, but entry into the chamber is not permitted. You can look through the barred opening; take a torch if you want a better view inside.

The grounds are kept tidy, and picnic benches sit near the monument, outside the wall. There is no café or toilet at the site. The compact visit works well as a stop while travelling along the Me-1, rather than as a full day’s outing.
