Kuwait City is the capital of Kuwait, on the Persian Gulf. Its skyline includes contemporary buildings and landmarks such as the Kuwait Towers and the Grand Mosque. The city grew from a trading and pearling port, then expanded rapidly as oil wealth reshaped the capital. You can see traces of these eras in its architecture, museums and traditional markets. At Souk Al-Mubarakiya, shops and food stalls give you a chance to browse and eat in the old market district.

Set aside time for the waterfront and central sights, and choose a museum or souk to explore. Kuwait City is a good fit if you are interested in architecture, modern Gulf cities and local culture; it is less suited to a trip focused on outdoor activities. Winter is the more comfortable season for spending time outside, as temperatures are cooler than in summer. Two or three days gives you time to visit the main sights at a measured pace, or you can make the city a short stop on a wider trip through Kuwait.
