The ten days
The Calgary Stampede runs from 9 to 18 July 2027, with the next editions on 7 to 16 July 2028 and 6 to 15 July 2029. A ticketed preview, Sneak-A-Peek, comes the evening before: on Thursday 8 July the gates open at 5pm and stay open until midnight, and entry needs a ticket. The Stampede also lists a midway, pancake breakfasts and a fair, and Visit Calgary adds a nightly fireworks finale. The rodeo and evening show are sold separately.
The rodeo and the evening show
The rodeo is at 1:30pm every day. The evening show is at 7:15pm every night and combines three things: the Rangeland Derby chuckwagon races, the ENMAX relay races and the Grandstand Show. Both are sold through AXS, and the Stampede offers a Two Day Thrill Package covering one rodeo and one evening show, plus souvenirs, sold apart from the individual tickets. The ticket office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm, on 403-269-9822 or at [email protected].
The parade
The parade opens the Stampede on the first Friday, 9 July in 2027. In 2026 the parade prelude began at 8am and the parade at 9am, and applications for 2027 parade entries open in the fall of 2026. Downtown and East Village streets were closed for it in 2026. After the parade, guests who go straight to Stampede Park get free admission from 11am to 1pm on the 9th.
The free-admission windows
The Stampede lists these Value Days for 2027:
Friday 9 July: free admission from 11am to 1pm for guests coming from the parade.
Sunday 11 July: free admission until 11am, with a free pancake breakfast (8am to 10am, while quantities last) and a free variety show (8am to 10am, GMC Stadium).
Tuesday 13 July: free admission from 10am to 1pm. Seniors (65+) and military veterans get in free all day, with free coffee and donuts in the BMO Plaza until 11am while quantities last.
Wednesday 14 July: free entry for everyone until 11am, and all day for children 12 and under. Free breakfast and a free variety show from 8am to 10am.
Getting there
The Red Line CTrain stops at both Victoria Park/Stampede and Erlton/Stampede. Victoria Park/Stampede is the easier one for the Scotiabank Saddledome, Cowboys Casino, The Big Four Roadhouse, the Monster Energy Compound and the southwest entrance of the BMO Centre. Erlton/Stampede is closer to GMC Stadium, the Coca-Cola Stage, Nashville North and the Dog Bowl Arena.
In 2026 Calgary Transit ran 24-hour CTrain service, extended hours on many bus routes and two Express Stampede bus routes. Day-use public parking was $30 per entry, first come first served, with a pre-order deadline of June 30, 2026 for reserved parking. Vehicles had to fit stalls of 9 by 19 feet, and no RVs, trailers or oversized vehicles were allowed. Overnight parking was allowed if the vehicle left by 8am. Bike and scooter parking is at every entrance. For the full story on access and rooms, see the Calgary Stampede 2027 guide.
Where to sleep
The park sits beside the Beltline, and downtown is where the parade runs. With 24-hour CTrain service in 2026, any base on the Red Line works. Where to stay in Calgary has the neighborhoods compared. After the Stampede, Calgary to Banff takes about 1.5 hours by road and 2 by transit, per Parks Canada.
