Paine’s Park is a 30,000-square-foot outdoor skatepark beside the Schuylkill River Trail, behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Its three riding areas combine rails, ledges, quarterpipes and transitions with street-style obstacles, including benches repurposed from City Hall and LOVE Park. Come to skate, practise or watch riders use the stepped concrete. The park also works as a stop on a walk or ride along the river trail, with seating areas for a break between sessions.
A skatepark shaped around street skating

Paine’s Park opened in 2013 beside the Schuylkill River Trail, close to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The 30,000-square-foot park was designed for skateboarders and bladers, with fewer conventional ramps and more features for grinding and catching air.
Its obstacles include rails, ledges, transitions and quarterpipes. Repurposed benches from City Hall and LOVE Park bring familiar pieces of Philadelphia into the riding areas. The layout includes three areas, giving riders different features to practise on, though some of the obstacles are on the larger side.
Watching and taking a break

Riding is only one way to spend time here. The stepped concrete gives you a place to watch skaters practise, and the park has seating areas for a pause. Competitions have also taken place at the park.
The trail offers another quiet spot nearby: an alternate path branches downward shortly before the park, where a rock ledge sits among bushes and trees. It can work as a perch for a sandwich away from the main riding areas.
