Wynwood Walls

How the walls began

Wynwood’s warehouse district once had large, blank industrial walls. In 2009, developer Tony Goldman began turning them into spaces for street art, bringing artists to paint murals on the buildings. The project grew into an outdoor museum, while artwork spread through the wider neighborhood.

The collection has changed over time. Some murals are replaced, so a return visit can bring different work into view. Artists from Miami and other parts of the world contribute, and the subjects range from cultural figures to social issues.
