From Santa Monica to Culver City
The gallery began in Santa Monica in 1994 as Blum & Poe. In 2003, it moved to a former industrial warehouse in Culver City, a change that helped establish the area as an arts district. The building covers 5,000 square feet and now holds multiple exhibition spaces.
The gallery’s program has grown beyond its earlier association with abstract art. It represents more than 50 artists working across different media, with a strong interest in introducing international artists to audiences in the United States.
A changing contemporary art program
BLUM presents artists from countries including Japan, Korea and Brazil. Its exhibitions can pair familiar names, such as Yoshitomo Nara, with artists who are less established in the American art scene.
