The site was originally occupied by Taiwan Gas Co., established in 1934 during the Japanese colonial period. After the industrial buildings were left unused for decades, the Red House of Taipei Culture Foundation took over in 2009. The former industrial site and its surrounding grounds were then turned into the park and arts space seen today.

The legal graffiti walls are a defining part of the space, with artwork extending into nearby alleys. The walls are intended as a place for urban art and youth culture, and the area is also used for dance, skateboarding and photography. Some murals have faded, so expect a varied collection rather than uniformly fresh paint.

The park includes an outdoor movie-screening area and an open art plaza. Indoor spaces are used for workshops, exhibitions and rehearsals. On weekends, craft and street-food markets may add to the activity. You can also find seats, greenery, public toilets and a drinking fountain within the area.
