Shibuya Scramble Square

Shibuya Scramble Square is a 47-floor shopping and dining complex directly connected to Shibuya Station.

Shibuya Scramble Square is a 47-floor shopping and dining complex directly connected to Shibuya Station. Its main draw is SHIBUYA SKY, an observation deck with open-air and indoor areas and a bird’s-eye view of the famous crossing. On clear days, the skyline can extend to Mount Fuji. Below, browse Japanese crafts, fashion, gifts and food, including a ground-floor selection of sweets. Come for the view, or leave time to explore the shops and cafés before or after your visit upstairs.

SHIBUYA SKY above the crossing

SHIBUYA SKY is the observation attraction at the top of Shibuya Scramble Square, around 230 metres above street level. From the rooftop, you can look down on Shibuya Crossing and across Tokyo. The open-air deck gives you a broad view of the city, while indoor viewing areas provide another way to take in the skyline.

The crossing is the sight to pick out below: pedestrians move across it from several directions when the signals change. From above, the surrounding streets and buildings put the scale of the intersection into perspective. On a clear day, Mount Fuji may also be visible. Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree are among the landmarks included in the wider panorama.

An observation visit at sunset

Late afternoon and sunset are popular times to visit, so arrange your ticket in advance if you have a particular time slot in mind. As daylight fades, the view changes from the city in daylight to its evening lights. A rooftop bar serves drinks, giving you the option to pause with a view. The food upstairs is more suited to a quick bite than a full meal.

The observation areas include designated photo spots around the corners of the building. Large bags are not permitted upstairs, and lockers are available for storing them. The rooftop is outdoors, so dress for the conditions; it can feel hot at the top in warmer weather.

Shopping and dining in the tower

Shibuya Scramble Square is directly connected to Shibuya Station, making it easy to add to a day in the district. The complex opened in 2019 and brings shops and restaurants together beneath the observation deck. Retail floors include fashion, lifestyle goods, gifts and Japanese handicrafts, alongside cafés and places to eat.

The ground-floor food area has sweets such as cookies, chocolates and pastries. It is a convenient stop for a gift or something small to eat before heading upstairs. If you arrive early for a timed observation entry, browsing the shops gives you something to do nearby without leaving the building.
