UniCredit Tower is a modern skyscraper and the headquarters of UniCredit, rising above Piazza Gae Aulenti in Milan’s Porta Nuova district. Its curved glass exterior and needle-like spire give the skyline a clear focal point, especially when the tower’s lights come on after dark. The building is not open to the public, so plan to admire it from the square. Stay to see the coloured water jets in the piazza, or continue to nearby Bosco Verticale and the Libreria degli Alberi park.

UniCredit Tower

UniCredit Tower is the headquarters of UniCredit, set within the Porta Nuova business district. Architect César Pelli designed the skyscraper, whose curved glass surfaces and pointed spire distinguish it from the surrounding buildings. The tower forms part of a larger development of business and residential buildings around Piazza Gae Aulenti.

The square was planned as a contemporary public meeting place beneath the high-rises. It gives you space to take in the tower and the wider district without needing to enter a private office building.

LEDs cover the tower’s exterior, and its appearance changes when they are lit. The lighting has also been used to display colours for commemorations and expressions of solidarity. The square’s water jets add another point of interest: they produce colourful displays near the base of the tower.

From Piazza Gae Aulenti, you can continue towards Bosco Verticale, the tree-covered residential towers, or walk through the Libreria degli Alberi park behind the square. Garibaldi station is nearby, with train and metro connections.
