BMW Welt is a showroom and experience centre at Am Olympiapark 1 in Munich, beside the BMW Museum and Olympic Park. Its glass-and-steel building, with a sweeping roof and double-cone form, is part of the visit. Inside, see current BMW, MINI, BMW Motorrad and Rolls-Royce models, explore interactive displays and look for the customer car handovers in the Premiere area. You can sit in selected vehicles, too. Entry to BMW Welt is free; the separate BMW Museum focuses more on the company’s history.

A showroom with a striking design

BMW Welt

BMW Welt is an exhibition, delivery and event centre beside the BMW Museum, BMW headquarters and plant, near Munich’s Olympic Park. The building was designed by Coop Himmelb(l)au and opened in 2007. Its glass-and-steel structure twists around a double-cone form beneath a broad roof known as “the cloud.”

Inside, open spaces and hanging partitions let you view the vehicles from different levels. The architecture is part of the experience, so take time to look up and across the building as you move through it.

Current models and interactive displays

The Markenwelt area presents vehicles and technology from BMW, MINI, BMW Motorrad and Rolls-Royce. The displays focus on the brands’ current products and include cars and motorcycles, from everyday models to high-performance vehicles and electric cars. Interactive exhibits bring the technology into view, while some vehicles are open for you to sit inside.

BMW Welt is chiefly about the present and future of the brands. The nearby BMW Museum has a different focus: its exhibitions trace BMW’s history through vehicles and other objects from earlier periods. The two attractions are connected by a pedestrian bridge, but they are separate visits.

Customer deliveries and events

BMW Welt is also a delivery centre. In the Premiere area, customers collect their new cars in a dedicated handover space. If a delivery is taking place during your visit, you can watch the process from the public areas.

The building also hosts events, performances and exhibitions, and guided tours are available. Tour topics can include the building and the BMW brands; factory tours are also mentioned among the wider BMW experiences, but they are distinct from a self-guided visit to the showroom.
