Skradinski Buk is the largest series of waterfalls in Krka National Park, a run of travertine barriers, islands and lakes reached from the town of Skradin. Wooden walkways and bridges take you along the cascades, with the water close at hand throughout. Morning is the best time to come: the water lies flat and the paths are quiet before the tour buses arrive. Take the boat up the river from Skradin, and plan for an uphill walk to the upper lakes.
Getting there from Skradin

Skradin is the closest town to the falls. From its marina, a boat carries visitors upriver to the waterfalls, and the boat trip is included in the entrance ticket. The walk from the town centre to the marina takes about ten minutes, through a pretty town with several places to eat and two grocery stores.
Boats run through the day, leaving every 30 to 60 minutes depending on the time, so check the timetable when you arrive. The ride up takes roughly half an hour. If you come by car, park at the Lozovac entrance, which has free parking and a shuttle bus down to the park.
The falls and the trail

Skradinski Buk is a series of cascades about 800 metres long, made of travertine barriers, islands and lakes. Visitors often count around twenty separate falls in the stretch. Wooden walkways and bridges carry the trail past them, and most of the route is on wooden boards.
The lower lake is where the boat lands. The upper lakes and their falls are reached by a walk of about 20 minutes uphill. Along the way, small cascades and clear pools hold trout, and lush vegetation lines the path. Historic mills stand in this part of the park.
Water, food and cash
The park has a fountain where you can refill your bottle. Bringing your own drinks and snacks keeps costs down, since prices inside the park are higher. Stalls along the uphill path sell local products and fruit, and shaded spots away from the main falls suit a snack or a longer break.
Some stalls take only cash, so carry some cash as well as a card.
