The Studios of Key West

The Studios of Key West is an arts center at 533 Eaton St, a short walk from Duval Street, inside a landmark Art Deco building. Four galleries bring together work by local, national and international artists, with exhibitions alongside classes, workshops, talks, films, theater and live music. You can also browse Books & Books, an independent nonprofit bookstore run by local writers including Judy Blume. Galleries and island artists

The Studios brings artists from Key West and farther afield into the same downtown venue. Its four galleries host changing exhibitions, with work by local, national and international artists. The mix can include painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media, so the displays vary from one visit to the next.

The organization was founded to connect visiting artists with local audiences and artists, and to give both groups room to explore their work. Its annual members’ exhibition invites every member to take part, bringing together work in many styles and forms.

Classes, performances and the bookstore

The program extends beyond the galleries. Classes and workshops cover art and writing, while lectures, film screenings, theater and live music add evening and event options. Artist residencies bring visiting artists to the island; check the schedule to see what is on during your trip.

Books & Books is on the first floor. The nonprofit independent bookstore is run by local writers, including co-founder Judy Blume, and carries more than 5,000 titles. You can browse for an island read or look for an author event on the calendar.
