Grandview Point is a South Rim overlook on Desert View Drive in Grand Canyon National Park, between Grand Canyon Village and Desert View. From the rim, you can look across to the North Rim and along the canyon in both directions. An information board tells the story of Pete Berry’s late 19th-century hotel, which once stood here. Pete Berry’s hotel
Grandview Point was the site of a hotel built by entrepreneur Pete Berry in the late 19th century, during the early growth of tourism at the Grand Canyon. The hotel and a log cabin that once stood nearby are gone. An information board at the overlook recounts the site’s history, giving you a reason to pause beyond the view.
Starting the Grandview Trail
The Grandview Trail begins at the rim here and follows a route used by earlier visitors to descend into the canyon. It remains a popular hike, with canyon views along the way. A hike of about one to two hours is possible, but the trail heads down from the rim, so bring water, snacks, sun protection and sturdy footwear.
