A photography organisation since 1986
The Centre for Contemporary Photography began in 1986 as a not-for-profit exhibition and resource centre established by Melbourne’s photography community. Its work has included exhibition opportunities, education and support for artists working with photography and video.
CCP’s exhibitions have presented work by emerging and established artists. The programme spans contemporary fine art and Indigenous photography, as well as portraiture, video, digital imaging and photojournalism.
Exhibitions and ways to take part
The exhibition programme can bring together different approaches to photography, from black-and-white prints to contemporary colour work. Check what is showing before you go, since CCP has continued to curate and host exhibitions at venues around Melbourne.
Courses are available for beginners and for people looking to develop their photographic skills. Workshops and artist talks provide other ways to engage with the work and its makers. The shop has photography books to browse.
