Lăng Ông Bà Chiểu is the resting place of Marshal Lê Văn Duyệt and his wife. The complex was built in 1848, after his death in 1832. Lê Văn Duyệt served twice as Governor-General of Gia Định, from 1812 to 1815 and from 1820 to 1832. His work helped shape the development and order of southern Vietnam.

After his death, Emperor Minh Mạng accused him of wrongdoing and ordered his tomb destroyed. Emperors Thiệu Trị and Tự Đức later exonerated him, and the tomb was rebuilt. The mausoleum honours his place in the history of the region.

The complex combines traditional Huế imperial architecture with Southern Vietnamese details. Begin at the Tam Quan Gate, with its curved roof tiles and calligraphic couplets. The burial area contains the tombs of Lê Văn Duyệt and his wife, enclosed by stone walls.

The worship hall is dedicated to Lê Văn Duyệt and holds ancestral tablets for his family and close officials. Continue through the courtyard and garden. Shaded grounds surround the tombs and temple, and artists sometimes paint here. Signs and inscriptions may be difficult to understand if you do not read Chinese or Vietnamese.
