Haleʻiwa Beach Park is a North Shore beach and recreation area in Haleʻiwa, with sand, picnic spots and views across Waialua Bay. The breakwater shelters parts of the shoreline, though conditions can change and the shallow, rocky bottom makes swimming less suitable in some areas. Watch surfers, look for turtles near the water and reef, or settle under the shade trees for a picnic. The park also has playgrounds, courts, restrooms, showers and free parking, making it a practical stop for families as well as beachgoers.

Beach conditions and surfing

Haleʻiwa Beach Park

Haleʻiwa Beach Park sits beside Waialua Bay, near the town of Haleʻiwa. A breakwater and shallow shoal shelter parts of the bay, so the water can be calmer here than at exposed North Shore beaches. Conditions still depend on the swell, and some areas have a shallow, rocky bottom. Check the water before swimming or snorkeling, and take care when the surf is strong.

Puaʻena Point lies just north of the parking lot. Its waves draw surfers, and some surf schools use the area. Conditions can be gentler for beginner board riders than at other North Shore breaks, but larger sets are suited to experienced surfers. You can also watch from shore when the surf is up.

Turtles, reef and picnic areas

Sea turtles and fish may be seen around the bay and near the Anahulu River, including from the water. If you spot a turtle, observe it without touching or crowding it. Coral reef structures close to shore give snorkelers another reason to explore when conditions allow.

Shade trees and picnic tables make the park a good place to pause between beach stops. Facilities include restrooms, showers, a playground and sports courts. The park also has free parking, which can be useful when other North Shore beaches are busy. Haleʻiwa town is nearby on foot or by car, with places to eat and shop after your visit.
