Roque Cinchado is one of the best-known formations in the Roques de García, a group of volcanic rocks in the Las Cañadas del Teide caldera. Its distinctive outline narrows toward the middle, giving it a tree-like appearance. The names Stone Tree and Finger of God refer to that unusual shape.

The formation is about 27 metres tall and is regarded as an emblem of Tenerife. It has also appeared on the former 1,000-peseta banknote. Around it, the Roques de García include other striking towers and formations, with Mount Teide rising in the wider landscape.

A walk around the formations brings you past varied lava shapes and broad views of the caldera and Teide. One route through the area takes in Roque Cinchado, El Burro, the Cañadas and La Catedral before returning to Parador del Teide. The walk is described as relatively easy, with one longer slope; allow around 1 to 1.5 hours for the circuit.

The area is popular, so an early start can make the walk calmer and help with parking. In summer, heat can make the route tiring.
