Cabo Girão is a sea-cliff viewpoint on Madeira’s south coast, above Câmara de Lobos. Its glass-floored skywalk extends over a drop of about 580 metres, with views across the Atlantic, the coastline and terraced farmland below. The platform gives you a direct look down through the glass; the wider panorama is just as compelling. Plan a short stop, and check the weather before setting out: low cloud can hide the view. A café and souvenir shop are also on site.
The glass skywalk above the coast

Cabo Girão stands on Madeira’s south coast, near Câmara de Lobos. The viewing platform projects over the cliff edge, with a glass floor that lets you look down towards the ocean and farmland on the slopes below. The cliff is about 580 metres above sea level.
The transparent floor is the most striking part of the visit. If looking straight down feels uncomfortable, you can still enjoy the panorama from the platform without focusing on the glass. Views extend across the Atlantic and along the coast; on a clear day, the landscape below is easier to make out.
Planning a stop

Cabo Girão is a brief viewpoint stop rather than a place that needs a long visit. The platform can become crowded, so arriving earlier or later in the day may give you more room to look around. Parking is available, but finding a space can take patience when the area is busy.
Cloud can cover the view, so check conditions before making the trip if the panorama is your main reason for going. There is a café and a souvenir shop at the site. The viewpoint is at Estrada do Cabo Girão, in Câmara de Lobos.
