Garcia de Orta Garden is a long public garden in Lisbon’s Parque das Nações, beside the Tagus River. Created for the 1998 World’s Fair, it combines planted areas, paths and places to sit with river and city views. Look for the flags above a narrow strip of water at the entrance, a small pool with a wooden boat and flowering trees among the greenery. It is a calm stop near a metro and train station and a shopping centre; the cable car gives another way to see the area from above.
